Sidebars: Do we need them?
Reported by Matias Korhonen | March 11th, 2009 @ 12:17 AM | in 0.2 (Alpha 2)
Is the side bar still necessary?
At the moment they are used for (in the user view):
Can be replaced by adding a link in the header. Possibly we can use AJAX to show a popup with the login (or if JS is disabled we can redirect to a login page)
- Link to user profile
We could easily fit a small link in the header, near the navigation
- Link to administration
Again, a link in the navigation would be easy to fit, all it needs to say is 'Admin'
- Links to the atom feeds
Do we need these? Or can we just have a feeds link somewhere which takes you to a page which details the feeds options. Most people will use the auto discovery tags anyway...
And in the admin view:
- For navigating the admin listings
Use the normal navigation? And have a link to 'View Site'? This would be good preparation for having a separate admin backend.
- For a key of symbols
Lets just get rid of this, or replace it with something more subtle (did I hear someone mention AJAX?)

Sidebars have been removed. Still need to relocate some things which were in the sidebars (see #61)
